Why do all these
future kitchens have so much empty floor space? What do they
expect to do while the tater tots are heating? Indulge in a spot
of ballroom dancing? Terpsichorean kitchen architecture; that's
the ticket.
That would
seem to be about the only thing that the RCA Whirlpool "miracle
kitchen" hadn't going for it. In addition to the usual suspects
and a love of lift up and drop down shelving that bordered on the
obsessive, it also boasted a "planning centre" complete with
closed circuit television, a microwave oven, a mobile
dishwasher/storage unit and a robot vacuum that looked distinctly
aggressive.
And if push came to shove, you
could cook in the place, too.
